G.hn access solution helps Cable Operators and MSOs provide Gigabit services across brownfield sectors over pre-existing wiring, including Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), Townhouses and Garden Homes, the Hospitality industry and Single Family Units (SFUs), hotels, shopping mall, etc.
G.hn technology allows all subscribers inside an DPU access to the same services as Single Family homes served exclusively with XGS-PON.
FirstMile G.hn Access Solution is composed with DPU and CPE, DPU can be placed in pole, wall, manhole, pedestal, pit, basement, floor, loft, CPE is usually placed in the home.

Fiber to the “Economical Point” is necessary in order to achieve an optimal allocation of resources,
it could require to place a DPU in harsh environments (outdoor) where local power source is not available. First Mile G.hn Distribution Point Unit (DPU) family now includes outdoor version, which is specially designed for deployment in harsh environments. The outdoor DPU is ruggedized in an IP67 enclosure with K.45 surge protection and can be reversed powered based on IEEE 802.3at PoE mechanism by the CPE while leveraging the existing wiring infrastructure to save time and money.
